Graduates of 2021 – It’s now the time to get the job search started!

Are you graduates, graduating this year? it’s time to kickstart that job search, and here’s how you can do it.

Graduates, are your CV up to date?

First impressions count so make sure your CV is ready and up to date. Don’t worry if you don’t have much work experience. Skills can be gained in other ways too, such as through your education, extracurricular activities, projects, online courses etc. Make sure you include all your transferable skills to sell yourself. Check for spelling mistakes and ensure the layout is clear and easy to read. It could also be a good step to draft a cover letter that you can adapt for each specific job you apply for. Have you got all your Graduates documents?

It may seem straightforward but making sure you have all your certificates to hand is ever so important. With degree fraud having spiked over the years employers are keen to see that you can prove your achievements, sometimes as far back as GCSE level. It’s also important to check that your ID is in date as well any other documents proving your right to work (Visa’s, national insurance number etc.) Checking that you have all of these now will save you the panic of trying to locate them last minute.

Get upskilling

There are so many ways to upskill your CV with most being available from the comfort of your own home. If you feel your CV is lacking or just want to further educate yourself, online courses are a great way to do it. With such a huge variety of courses (a lot of them free) and all this spare time why not give it a go.

Competition is higher than ever, and you don’t want to miss out!

It’s never too early to start looking. Especially with competition for jobs being higher than ever this year its good to get ahead.
